- Barceloneta and the city beaches: free Barcelona has 4.5 km of city beach free to visit year-round. Barceloneta is the best known; Bogatell and Nova Icaria are quieter and equally beautiful.
- Gothic Quarter and El Born: free to walk Two of Europe's most beautiful historic neighbourhoods, explorable on foot without a ticket. El Born also has a free open excavation of the medieval Mercat de Santa Caterina in its cellars.
- Park Guell free section The Monumental Zone of Park Guell costs €18, but the largest part of the park is free to enter, including beautiful nature and views over the city. Visit before 8am or after 6pm for the best atmosphere.
- MNAC national museum: free half-day The National Museum of Art on Montjuic is free every Saturday after 3pm and on the first Sunday of the month. Largest collection of Romanesque art in the world.
