Flying from Weeze Airport (Niederrhein)

Weeze Airport sits just across the border near Nijmegen and Venlo and is a small low-cost airport, mainly Ryanair. For travellers from the east and south of the country, Weeze is sometimes closer than Schiphol, with sharp prices to sun and city destinations.

Direct destinations from Weeze

Weeze operates almost entirely on Ryanair, which uses Airport Niederrhein as one of its fixed European bases. In summer 2026 you can fly direct to more than 30 destinations; in winter the schedule shrinks to around 15 to 20 routes.

Popular destinations include Malaga, Alicante, Faro, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Marrakech and Seville. In Italy, Ryanair serves Rome Ciampino, Milan Bergamo, Venice Treviso and Pisa. In Greece it connects to Kos, Rhodes, Corfu and Heraklion. Year-round jaarrond routes include Alicante, Malaga, Seville, Faro, Tenerife, Marrakech and Paphos (Cyprus).

Cheapest destinations from Weeze

As a pure Ryanair airport, Weeze regularly offers some of the lowest fares, comparable to or sometimes slightly below Eindhoven Airport. Ryanair uses Weeze as one of its European home bases, which means load factors are typically a bit lower than at busier airports. That works in your favour when booking early.

The most affordable routes are destinations where Ryanair faces competition across multiple Dutch airports: Alicante, Barcelona (via Girona) and Malaga can sometimes be booked for under €45 return when purchased well in advance. Always compare Weeze with Eindhoven and Schiphol via the trip planner.

When to book for the best price

Ryanair prices climb as seats fill. For a European city break, book 6 to 12 weeks ahead; for a summer sun holiday in Spain or Greece, aim for 3 to 4 months in advance. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are usually cheapest. February and November are the lowest-price months for sun routes like Alicante and Malaga; July and August cost two to three times as much.

Weeze is in the Niederrhein region, right across the border near Nijmegen and Venlo. Approximate driving times from Dutch cities:

Bus from Nijmegen: Bus line SB46 runs directly from Nijmegen Central Station to Weeze Airport in approximately 65 minutes (every 2 hours, including early morning and late night). Price: around €18.90 per adult via DB NRWay, or from €11.88 with the eezy.nrw eTarif app.

Parking and access

Weeze Airport has several official car parks. P1 is the closest to the terminal (walking distance); P2 is covered; P3 is the most affordable and has a free shuttle. Always book in advance via airport-weeze.com or comparison sites like Parkos.nl for the lowest rate:

Transavia at Weeze in 2027: During the closure of Eindhoven Airport for runway maintenance (1 February to 18 July 2027), Transavia will operate a number of flights from Weeze. Routes including Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Lisbon, Marrakech and Valencia will depart daily or several times per week from Weeze during that period.

How early should you arrive?

Weeze is a compact airport, but still plan to arrive 2 hours before departure for three reasons:

• Ryanair starts boarding early and closes the gate strictly on time.
• You are crossing a border: have your passport or ID card ready.
• Ryanair's cabin bag check is strict at the gate; don't turn up with an oversized bag.

With online check-in, hand luggage only and a pre-booked parking space, 90 minutes is the safe minimum.

Hand luggage with Ryanair

Since Weeze operates almost exclusively Ryanair, the Ryanair hand luggage rules apply. A small bag (max. 40x20x25 cm) under the seat is free. A trolley (max. 55x40x20 cm) is only allowed in the cabin if you have Priority boarding or have chosen a seat that includes it.
