Why the spring break is perfect for a city trip

The Dutch spring break is the least popular holiday of the school year. Many families prefer to travel in summer or at Christmas. That works in your favour: hotels are cheaper, flight tickets are lower and popular attractions can be visited without queuing.

February is also the ideal travel month for cities on the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean. In Seville and Valencia the sun shines an average of 6 to 7 hours a day. Lisbon and Porto reach temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees Celsius. Even in Rome it is pleasant to walk around at 10 to 12 degrees, while the city is barely crowded with tourists.

Northern European cities such as Prague and Vienna are cold in February, but offer a unique, quiet atmosphere. No tourist queues at Prague Castle or the Kunsthistorisches Museum, and hotel prices that are sometimes half of what you pay in summer.

Eindhoven Airport closed until 18 July 2027. The renovation of Eindhoven Airport runs from 1 February to 18 July 2027. Plan your spring break via Amsterdam Schiphol or Rotterdam The Hague Airport.
