- Hal Saflieni Hypogeum Prehistoric underground temple older than Stonehenge (3600-2500 BC) in Paola. Book well in advance; maximum 80 visitors per day. Entry 35 euros. The Ggantija Temples on Gozo are more accessible (entry 9 euros).
Getting around Malta
Malta has a good bus network operated by Tallinja. Single ticket €2.00 (winter) or €2.50 (summer); Tallinja day pass approx. €4.50. A taxi from Malta Airport to Valletta costs approx. €15 to 20 (20 minutes).
Car hire is cheap (€20 to 35 per day) but note: Malta drives on the left. For a day trip to Gozo, take the bus to Cirkewwa and the ferry (25 minutes, €4.65 foot passenger) to Mgarr on Gozo.
