May, June and September are ideal: 24 to 29 degrees, a warm sea and quieter than peak summer. July and August are hot (32 to 35 degrees) and the beaches of Salento fill up with Italian holidaymakers. April and October are mild and cheap, perfect for the city, Lecce and the olive groves without the heat.
