July and August are the busiest and most expensive but also the most vibrant. April can be beautiful for active holidays, but the sea water is still refreshingly cool. October combines warm swimming water with quieter beaches and lower prices.

- Oba / Mahmutlar Sprawling district popular with expats. Cheaper and quieter than the centre. Lots of apartment rentals available.
- Dim River / Tosmur Green river delta north of the city. Water activities, rafting, local pide restaurants along the water.
- Incekum Small, quiet resort village 15 km west of Alanya. Nicer beach and less mass tourism.

- Pirate boat tour (approx. €13-20 pp incl. lunch) 4-5 hours sailing past caves, bays and swimming spots. Lunch and drinks included on board.
- Sapadere Canyon (approx. €6-8) Walking trail through a spectacular gorge in the Taurus Mountains with a waterfall and swimming spots. About 45 minutes from Alanya.
