When is the best time to visit Gothenburg?

May and September are ideal: pleasant weather (15 to 20 degrees), few tourists and normal hotel prices. June to August has the longest days (sun until 10pm) with 18 to 23 degrees, but is busier and more expensive: hotel prices in July rise up to 89 percent above the annual average.

December is the cheapest month with festive Christmas markets; rooms average €97 per night. Avoid the first week of August: many local restaurants close.
